Paint Technician Assistant Lead
Description

The Paint Tech Assistant Lead is selected by the Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager with the help of the Area/Line Lead and Paint Lead. This position reports to the Paint Lead of the area assigned. The paint technician assistant lead will have the following:

  • Two or more years’ experience operating powder coat paint equipment or three years’ experience in manufacturing serving in a production role with upward job progression.

AUTHORITY

The Paint Tech Assistant Lead has the authority to:

  1. Develop and implement, in cooperation with the current area Paint Lead, Area/Line Lead, and Operations Manager, normal operating procedures for the powder coating application areas which he/she assigned. 

RESPONSIBILITY

Learn all attributes and working conditions of processes including equipment and personnel of the assigned area. Through experience and training with the Paint Lead, learn how to effectively process parts, problem solve issues and maintain equipment. Become a leader to all Paint Technicians by setting a positive example for others to follow.  

When the current area Paint Lead is absent or unavailable, the Paint Tech Assistant Lead has the responsibility for processing customer product in the powder coating application areas according to verified processes.  This includes:

  1. Being responsible for quality control in the powder coating application areas.
  2. Being responsible for managing and directing powder coating application.
  3. Performing job in a safe, responsible manner.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

The typical working conditions are a light industrial job shop. Conditions include exposure to industrial equipment, chemicals, loud noises, and warm/cold temperatures.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting of production loads, frequently lifting and carrying items weighing up to 60 pounds, often above the shoulders or below the knees.  Requires manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires ability to wear eye, respiratory, and hearing PPE’s effectively through entire work shift. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge of company environmental, health, and safety programs.  Ability to visualize the sequence, flow, and material needs of production.  Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; ability to supervise, and train other process operators.  Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.  Ability to deal effectively with other employees as a leader when necessary. Time management and general problem-solving skills are encouraged. 

SKILL LEVEL REQUIRED 

Process Operator – Level 1

Painter – Level 1 & 2

or

Industrial Painting Experience – 2 years 

DUTIES

  1. Learn all aspects of Powder Coat Application 
  2. Pass all training assignments. 
  3. Promote effective and positive attitudes and work effectively with other operators. 
  4. Assist in supervising powder coating application during assigned shift.
  5. Assist in training Paint Technicians that are new on the various responsibilities 
  6. Spot check quality during processing.
  7. Operate automated and manual paint systems.
  8. Perform job in a safe, responsible manner.
  9. Other duties of which he/she is capable as assigned by current area Paint Lead or Area/Line Lead. 

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

A Paint Tech Assistant Lead of KVF-Quad Corporation will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following is accomplished:

  1. All powder coat processes are learned, tested and proven effective. 
  2. When the current area Paint Lead is absent or unavailable, all production in the powder coat application areas occurs as scheduled in accordance to verified processes
  1. Perform job in a safe, responsible manner.
  2. All jobs assigned are completed in a timely manner within the Safety and Quality Control Standards set by the company.

PAYSCALE: $17-$22 per hour based on experience
